Etymology
Compound of 出世 (shusse, “advancement, development, success in one's life”) + 魚 (uo, “fish”).[1][2][3]
First cited in the 1949 novel 父 その死 (Chichi - Sono Shi, “Father: His Death”), by Aya Kōda.[1]
