オートバイ

Japanese

Etymology

Clipping of オートバイシクル (ōtobaishikuru), erroneously listed in some monolingual Japanese dictionaries as wasei eigo,[1][2][3][4] but actually borrowed from English autobicycle,[5][6][7][8] an early English term for motorcycle.

First cited to a text from 1918.[5]
