From Proto-Tocharian *ṣw’äp(ä)ne, from Proto-Indo-European *swépnos (“sleep”), thematicized from *swóp-r̥ ~ *swép-n̥s, from the root *swep- (“to sleep”). Cognate with Tocharian A ṣpäṃ.
