Manchu
Etymology
- From Proto-Tungusic *kebel, from Jurchen [script needed] (*hefuli).
- Ultimately from a Mongolic language, compare Mongolian хэвэл (xevel). Cognates are widespread in Inner Asia, being also found in the Northern Tungusic languages of Siberia and in Ket.[1] Pyongan Korean 허북 (heobuk, “belly”), Korean 허벅지 (heobeokji, “thigh”) are most likely borrowed from Tungusic.
