Etymology
From *kebeli, a variant of Proto-Mongolic *kexeli. Doublet of хээл (xeel, “fetus”) and хэвлий (xevlii, “belly, womb”). Compare also Manchu ᡴᡝᡶᡝᠯᡳ᠋ (hefeli) and Even кэбэл (kəʙəl).
