Etymology
As Arabic أَرْز (ʔarz, “cedar”) borrowed from Aramaic אַרְזָא / ܐܪܙܐ (ʾarzā, “cedar”). It being a tree by far not native to Ethiopia, the word may as well have been understood as any tall tree.
