ᄇᆞᄅᆞᆷ
Middle Korean
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /pʌlʌm/, [pʌɾʌm]
Etymology 1
Possibly an ancient borrowing from Old Chinese 風 (OC *plum, *plums, “wind”),[1] but also plausibly an ㅁ (-m) nominalization of unattested verb *ᄇᆞᆯ다 (*pol-ta), which would be the regular yang-vowel ablaut pair of 블다 (pul-ta, “to blow (of wind)”).
Descendants
- Korean: 바람 (baram)
