Cognate with Assamese শাৰী (xari), Bengali শাড়ি (śaṛi), Hindustani ساڑی (sāṛī) / साड़ी (sāṛī), Konkani साडी (sāḍī), Marathi साडी (sāḍī) and Sindhi ساڙهيِ / साढ़ी (sāṛhī).
