Inherited from Prakrit 𑀅𑀩𑁆𑀪 (abbha), from Sanskrit अभ्र (abhrá), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *abʰrás (“cloud”), from Proto-Indo-European *n̥bʰrós. Doublet of આભલું (ābhalũ), અભ્ર (abhra), and અબર (abar). Cognate with Rajasthani आभौ (ābhau).
