Etymology
Inherited from Middle Bengali বিহাঈ (bihai), from Prakrit *𑀯𑀺𑀆𑀳𑀻 (*viāhī), from Sanskrit विवाही (vivāhī, “(one) aligned by marriage”), from विवाह (vivāha, “marriage”) + -ई (-ī). Cognate with Assamese বিয়ৈ (bioi), Marathi व्याही (vyāhī). Doublet of বিয়ান (biẏan), বিয়ে (biẏe), and বিবাহ (bibaho).
