Learned borrowing from Sanskrit प्रायः (prāyaḥ, “mostly”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *praHyas, from Proto-Indo-European *pleh₁-yōs (“more”), comparative degree of *pelh₁us (“much”).[1] Cognate with Latin plūs (whence English plus). Doublet of পুরা (pura), পুরো (purō), পূরণ (puron), and পূর্ণ (purno).
