Etymology
Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘦𑘳𑘎 (muka), 𑘦𑘳𑘽𑘎 (muṃka), 𑘦𑘳𑘐 (muga), from Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓 / मुक्क / ಮುಕ್ಕ (mukka), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀫𑀼𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*mukka) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-) (compare Sanskrit मूक (mūka)). Cognate with Varhadi मुका (mukā), Ahirani मुगा (mugā), Assamese মুক (muk), Sinhalese මුක් (muk).
