Inherited from Proto-Indo-Aryan *Hnawatíṣ, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hnawatí, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁néwn̥h₁ḱomt (“nine-ten”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ἐνενήκοντα (enenḗkonta), Latin nōnāgintā.
