Borrowed from Northwestern Indo-Aryan, whence Punjabi ਟੱਕਰ (ṭakkar) / ٹَکَّر (ṭakkar), from Prakrit 𑀝𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀭 m (ṭakkara), from Sanskrit टक्करा f (ṭakkarā, a blow on the head), or partially adapted from the Sanskrit word. Cognate with Gujarati ટક્કર (ṭakkar), Marathi टक्कर (ṭakkar), Bengali টক্কর (ṭokkor).
