Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘐𑘰𑘕𑘜𑘹 (gājaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀕𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀇 (gajjaï), from Sanskrit गर्जति (gárjati). Doublet of गरजणे (garajṇe). Compare Gujarati ગાજવું (gājvũ), Hindustani گَاجْنَا (gājnā) / गाजना (gājnā), Sindhi گَجَڻُ / गजणु, Punjabi ਗੱਜਣਾ (gajjaṇā) / گَجّݨا (gajjṇā), Odia ଗାଜିବା (gajiba).
