Borrowed from Punjabi ਖੱਬਾ (khabbā), from Prakrit 𑀔𑀯𑁆𑀯 (khavva), from Sanskrit खर्व (kharva, “mutilated, imperfect”). Doublet of खर्व (kharv) and ख़राब (xarāb).
