Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kül- (“to laugh”); cognate with Azerbaijani gülmək, Bashkir көлөү (kölöw), Chuvash кул (kul), Kazakh күлу (külu), Kyrgyz күлүү (külüü), Turkmen gülmek, Uyghur كۈلمەك (külmek), Uzbek kulmoq and Yakut күл (kül).
