From Middle Persian 𐭱𐭭𐭠𐭧𐭲𐭭 (šnāxtan, to recognize, to know), from Old Persian 𐎧𐏁𐎴𐎠𐎿𐎠𐏃𐎹 (xšnāsāhiy), from Proto-Iranian *jnaHŝáti, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ȷ́naHsćáti, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵn̥h₃sḱéti.[1]

Related to دانستن (dânestan, know), Northern Kurdish zanîn, Avestan 𐬰𐬀𐬥𐬄𐬥 (zanąn, to recognize), Baluchi زانگ (zánag), English know.
