Etymology
From Middle Persian, borrowed into Aramaic סַפְטָא / ܣܰܦܛܳܐ (sap̄əṭā) and hence Arabic سَفَط (safaṭ). Akin to Old Armenian սապատ (sapat), a Middle Iranian borrowing.
