Etymology 1
From Sanskrit द्वार (dvāra), from the root द्वृ (dvṛ, “to cover”); ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *dʰworom. Cognate with Marathi दार (dār, “door”). Doublet of دَروازٕ (darvāzụ), however this word differs in meaning.

Inherited from Sanskrit दाढिका (dāḍhikā), from the root दंश् (daṃś, “to bite”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *denḱ-. Cognate with Hindustani داڑھی (dāṛhī) / दाढ़ी (dāṛhī).
