Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish درنك (dernek, gathering), from Proto-Turkic *tērnek (gathering),[1] a development of *tēr- (to collect, gather), whence دیرمك (dermek, to collect, gather). Cognate with Karakhanid تِرْناكْ (tẹrnek).
