Etymology

From the root خ ر ج (ḵ-r-j). Two Iranian contaminations are also to be noted for the present entry: For the “expenditure” noun see خَرَاج (ḵarāj, poll-tax) and for the “saddlebag” see كُرْز (kurz, satchel).
