بهرج

Arabic

Etymology

From Middle Persian equalling Persian بهره (bahra, profit, advantage, fortune, happiness, prosperity) and denominal verb, resulting from clipping of نَبَهْرَج (nabahraj, phoney); less likely augmented from ب ه ر (b-h-r) / بَهَرَ (bahara, to allure; to shine; to illuminate); perhaps a Persian stem and this Arabic root mutually interfered semantically in either language.
