Etymology
Perhaps from Proto-Iranian *HáHtr̥š (“fire”, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eh₁ter-) + *gar- (“to kindle”, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰer-).[1] Not found in Middle Persian; first attested in Daqīqī, in the mid-late 900s.
