Inherited from Proto-Turkic *āŋla- (“to understand”); cognate with Azerbaijani anlamaq, Bashkir аңлау (añlaw), Chuvash ӑнла (ănla), Kyrgyz аңдоо (aŋdoo), Turkmen āňlamak, Uyghur ئاڭلىماق (anglimaq) and Uzbek anglamoq.
