הרס

From the root ה־ר־ס (h-r-s). Compare Arabic هَرْس (hars, “grinding, milling”).

הֶרֶס • (héres) m (no plural forms, singular construct הֶרֶס־) [pattern: קֶטֶל]

1. Destruction: the act of destroying.

הָרַס • (harás) third-singular masculine past (pa'al construction, passive counterpart נֶהֱרַס)

1. to destroy, to demolish, to tear down.
   • Jeremiah 45:4:

     כֹּה תֹּאמַר אֵלָיו כֹּה אָמַר ה׳ הִנֵּה אֲשֶׁר־בָּנִיתִי אֲנִי הֹרֵס וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר־נָטַעְתִּי אֲנִי נֹתֵשׁ וְאֶת־כָּל־הָאָרֶץ הִיא׃

     vahadaftíkha mimatzavékha umima'amadkhá yehersékha:

     And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.[1]

2. to break through.
