From German drucken (“to print”), a southern dialect form of drücken (“to press”). Doublet of inherited Yiddish דריקן (drikn, “to press”), from Old High German drukken, from Proto-West Germanic *þrukkijan, from Proto-Germanic *þrukkijaną.
