ատր-
Old Armenian
Etymology
An Iranian borrowing, ultimately from Proto-Iranian *HáHtr̥š (“fire”). In some of the compounds confused with արտ- (art-). Doublet of այրեմ (ayrem).
Usage notes
Found only in a few compounds and never used independently. Discernible also in several wholly-borrowed terms from Iranian. Some of the compounds claimed to be inner-Armenian formations, such as ատրաշէկ (atrašēk), may also be wholly-borrowed.
