Etymology 3
According to Martirosyan, perhaps from ամպ (amp, “sky”) + -ար (-ar). The word ամպ (amp, “cloud”) could have also meant “sky” and ամպար (ampar) would then basically mean “the heavenly one” or “heavenly”.
