Etymology

From ӱст (üst, upper, top) + -ӱнде (-ünde, suffix), Proto-Turkic *üŕ-t (on top, high above). Cognate with Kazakh үстінде (üstınde), Kyrgyz үстүндө (üstündö), Azerbaijani üstündə, Turkish üstünde, Turkmen üstünde, Also Karachay-Balkar юсюнде (yusünde), Uyghur ئۈستىدە (üstide), etc.
