Inherited from Old Ruthenian таи́ти (taíti), from Old East Slavic таити (taiti), from Proto-Slavic *tajiti. Cognate with Belarusian таі́ць (taícʹ), Russian таи́ть (taítʹ), Czech tajit, Polish taić, Slovene tajítі.
