Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish قورنه (kurna), from Middle Armenian գուռն (guṙn), from Classical Syriac ܓܘܪܢܐ (gūrnā), perhaps from Akkadian 𒄖𒊒𒌦𒉡 (/⁠gurunnu, garunnu⁠/, a small ritual jug, urn, or basin; possibly a mortar).
