Inherited from Old Ruthenian древо (drevo), from Old East Slavic дрѣво (drěvo), from Old Church Slavonic дрѣво (drěvo), from Proto-Slavic *dȇrvo. Alternatively, from Polish drzewo. Doublet of дзе́рава (dzjérava), an inherited form.
