From a Turkic source (compare Turkish porsuk, Kazakh борсық (borsyq, “badger”)), from Proto-Turkic *borsuk (“badger”). Compare Ukrainian борсу́к (borsúk, “badger”). Displaced native язвец, from *jаzvъ.
