Роисся
Russian
Alternative forms
- Раися (Raisja) (internet slang)
Etymology
A humorous misspelling of Росси́я (Rossíja), possibly playing with the word рои́ться (roítʹsja, “to swarm, to crowd”).
This misspelling first appeared from a 2008 photo of a belt buckle. It became popular as a mockery of Dmitry Medvedev's article "Росси́я, вперёд (Rossíja, vperjód)" and the patrotic slogan "вперёд, Росси́я (vperjód, Rossíja)" (both meaning "Forward, Russia!").
