Etymology
From Росси́я (Rossíja), Россѣ́я (Rossě́ja). The presence of «ѣ» instead of «и» is a consequence of rethinking under the influence of the word рассеять (rassejatʹ), Old East Slavic россѣяти (rossějati).[2][3]
