φλοῖσβος

Ancient Greek

Etymology

The ending is reminiscent of θόρυβος (thórubos), κόναβος (kónabos) and ῥοῖβδος (rhoîbdos). Further analysis is unknown. Relation with φλιδάω (phlidáō, to overflow with moisture) is semantically not quite obvious.
