κονίλη
Ancient Greek
Etymology
Formation like ζωμίλη (zōmílē) and μαρίλη (marílē); further unclear. Furnée compares γονώνη (gonṓnē, “oregano”), and perhaps γονής (gonḗs, “narcissus”), with variation γ/κ. The suffix -ῑ́λη is typical of Pre-Greek words.
