κονίλη

Ancient Greek

Etymology

Formation like ζωμίλη (zōmílē) and μαρίλη (marílē); further unclear. Furnée compares γονώνη (gonṓnē, oregano), and perhaps γονής (gonḗs, narcissus), with variation γ/κ. The suffix -ῑ́λη is typical of Pre-Greek words.
