κεντέω

Ancient Greek

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *ḱent-. Cognate with English hent, hunt and possibly hand.

Pronunciation

Verb

κεντέω • (kentéō)

  1. to prick, sting, goad
  2. to stab, pierce, wound
