Values Development

Values are your enduring beliefs of what is most important to you. Your values establish what goals are more important and what goals are less important to you. Values transcend specific actions and situations and provide stability and guidance as you encounter obstacles, distractions, opportunities, ambiguity, ambivalence, conflict, and temptations throughout our lives. Carefully choose, assess, and reassess your values.

Assignment:

  • Study the Emotional Competency webpage on values.
  • Choose your own values from the list of Candidate Values.
  • Strive to live according to those values.
