Getting started

To get prepared and underway, the following steps are recommended:

1. Read the unit overview.
2. Get access to the textbook.
3. Read the social psychology (psychology) article on Wikipedia.
4. Review the Introduction to Social Psychology 1st year undergraduate lecture slides.
5. Explore past materials.
6. Meet the Staff.

Week 1

1. Complete the getting started guide.
2. Read over the unit outline.
3. Join the discussion group.
4. Read Wikiversity orientation.
5. Go through Lecture 01: Introduction
6. Participate in Tutorial 01: Introduction
7. E-portfolio:
   • Create a Wikiversity account and email the unit convener with your user name, real name, and student ID.
   • Make your first e-portfolio postings to share about what you've learnt so far.

Week 2

1. Complete the Week 01 guide.
2. Go through Lecture 02: Social self and the accompanying chapter in the textbook.
3. Login in and tour around the textbook's accompanying website resources via http://ilrn.com
4. Participate in Tutorial 01: Introduction
5. Create some reflections about the first fortnight in your e-portfolio.
6. Think about possible essay topics that you would like to put forward - they will be released at the beginning of Week 3.

Week 3

1. Complete the Week 02 guide.
2. Sign up for an essay topic - anytime from the beginning of Week 3.
3. Go through Lecture 03: Social thinking and the accompanying chapters in the textbook.
4. Try the test quizzes for content covered so far in the textbook's accompanying website resources via http://ilrn.com
5. Participate in Tutorial 02: Communication
6. Create some reflections about your participation this week in your e-portfolio.
7. Prepare for next week's viewing of Ghosts of Rwanda by reading about prejudice and aggression - if possible, be early to the lecture (2 hour DVD).

Week 4

1. Complete the Week 03 guide.
2. Make sure you've signed up for an essay topic.
3. Self-study the Lecture 04: Aggression slides and notes, and read the accompanying chapter in the textbook.
4. Try the test quizzes for the chapter in the textbook's accompanying website resources via http://ilrn.com
5. Participate in Tutorial 02: Communication
6. Create some reflections about your participation this week in your e-portfolio.
7. Watch and read about Ghosts of Rwanda by reading about prejudice and aggression - add reflections to your e-portfolio about connections between GOR and socio-psychological aspects of aggression, e.g., think about why and how the Rwandan Genocide occurred from socio-psychological point of view.
8. Have you completed your research participation? It needs to be done by the end of Week 7.

Week 5

1. Complete the Week 04 guide.
2. Make sure you've signed up for an essay topic.
3. Listen to, and/or read, the Prejudice lecture, slides, accompanying chapter in the textbook.
4. Try the test quizzes for the chapter in the textbook's accompanying website resources via http://ilrn.com
5. Participate in Prejudice, aggression, and prosocial behaviour tutorial (this week or next week). Note that you should already have watched Ghosts of Rwanda. Include some reflections and examples of the keywords from the films in in your e-portfolio.
6. Have you completed your research participation? It needs to be done by the end of Week 7.

Week 6

1. Complete the Week 05 guide.
2. There is no lecture this week or next - then we have two weeks of teaching break. So the next lecture is Relationships in Week 10.
3. Participate in the prejudice, aggression, and prosocial behaviour if you haven't already. Note that you should already have watched Ghosts of Rwanda. Include some reflections and examples of the keywords from the films in in your e-portfolio.
4. Have you completed your research participation? It needs to be done by the end of Week 7. Current participation will be collated on WebCT this week (with an email to the discussion list when available).

Week 7

1. Complete the Week 06 guide.
2. There is no lecture this week - then we have two weeks of teaching break. So the next lecture is Relationships in Week 10.
3. Participate in the cross-cultural training tutorial (Tutorial 04) this week or in Week 10.
4. Have you completed your research participation? It needs to be done by the end of this week. See WebCT for a record of your participation to date.

Week 10

1. Complete the Week 07 guide.
2. The lecture this week is on relationships
3. If you haven't already done so, participate in the cross-cultural training tutorial.

Week 11

1. Complete the Week 10 guide.
2. The lecture this week is on Groups and leadership
3. This fortnight's tutorial is on the Australian zeitgeist.

Week 12

1. Complete the Week 11 guide.
2. The lecture this week is on prosocial behaviour
3. This is the second week in which the Australian zeitgeist will be conducted.

Week 13

1. Complete the Week 12 guide.
2. The lecture this week is on environmental psychology.
3. This fortnight's tutorial will be conducted as an assessment workshop.

Week 14

1. Complete the Week 13 guide.
2. There is no lecture this week. However, you can come along to a first year lecture which will be given 1 hour earlier (10.30-12.30) which is an introduction to social psychology.
3. The last fortnight of the 6th tutorial will be conducted (assessment workshop).

Week 15

1. Complete the Week 14 guide.
2. The final lecture this week reviews the previous nine lectures: Social psychology (psychology)/Lectures/Review.
3. Tutorials have finished.
