54. Sē Hǣlend worhte þis tācen eft ōþre sīþe, þā hē cōm fram Iudea lande tō Galilea.[1]
CAPUT V
1. Æfter þyson wæs Iudea frēolsdæg, and sē Hǣlend fōr tō Ierusalem.[2]
2. On Ierusalem ys ān mere, sē is genemned on Ebrēisc Bethsaida; sē mere hæfð fīf porticas.[3]
3. On þām porticon læg mycel menigeo geādludra, blindra, and healtra, and forscruncenra, and geanbīdedon þæs wæteres styrunge.[4]
4. Drihtenes engel cōm tō his tīman on þone mere, and þæt water was āstyred; and sē þe raþust cōm on þone mere after þæs wateres styrunge wearþ gehǣled fram swā hwylcere untrumnysse swā hē on wæs.[5]
5. Đær was sum man eahta and þrīttig wintra on his untrumnysse.[6]
6. Þā sē Hǣlend geseah þysne licgean, and wiste þæt hē þǣr lange tīde wæs, ðā cwæþ hē tō him, Wylt þū hāl bēon?[7]
