NELSON. (Lieutenant, 1846.)

Horatio Nelson passed his examination 28 Sept. 1844; and after serving a short time as Mate in the Heroine 6, Capt. Chas. Edmunds, on the coast of Africa, was there, 9 Jan. 1846, nominated Acting-Lieutenant of the Rolla 10, Capt. John Simpson; in which vessel (the appointment being confirmed 9 Nov. following) he is still employed under Capt. Hugh Myddleton Ellicomhe.
