William H. Gass
William Howard Gass (July 30, 1924 – December 6, 2017) was an American novelist, critic and philosophy professor. He wrote three books, Omensetter's Luck (1966), The Tunnel (1995) and Middle C (2013). He also wrote three collections of short stories, a collection of novellas and seven volumes of essays. He won many awards.

Gass was born in Fargo, North Dakota. He grew up in Warren, Ohio.
Personal life
He was married to architect Mary Henderson. They had twin daughters.
Gass died on December 6, 2017 of heart failure in University City, Missouri, at the age of 93.[1]
