Hirosaki

Hirosaki (弘前市, Hirosaki-shi) is a Japanese city in Aomori Prefecture on the island of Honshu.[1]

History

Hirosaki was a castle town (城下町) of the Tsugaru clan.[2] The town grew up around Hirosaki Castle, which was built in 1601.[1]

City emblem

Hirosaki uses the swastika (manji ) as official symbol. This came from the flag emblem of the Tsugaru clan in Edo period.

Geography

Hirosaki is located in the southwest part of Aomori Prefecture. It is in the south of Mount Iwaki; and it is along the border with Akita Prefecture.
