Harriet Frank Jr.

Harriet Frank Jr. (March 2, 1923 – January 28, 2020) was an American screenwriter and producer. She was born in Portland, Oregon.

Frank worked alongside her husband, Irving Ravetch. Frank won many awards during her career, such as the New York Film Critics Circle Awards and the Writers Guild of America Award, and several nominations.

Her best known works are The Long, Hot Summer (1958), Norma Rae (1979), Murphy's Romance (1985) and Stanley & Iris (1990).

Frank was one of the "leading characters" in the 2017 memoir The Mighty Franks: A Memoir.[1][2]

Frank died on January 28, 2020 at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 96.[3]
