History
Bison was platted in 1888 by the railroad.[4][5] It was named after the American bison, which once ate there.[5]
Bison was a station on the Missouri Pacific Railroad.[6]
The first post office in Bison was created in May 1888.[7]
Geography
Bison is at 38°31′12″N 99°11′52″W (38.519915, -99.19789). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.27 square miles (0.69 km2). All of it is land.[2]
Weather
Bison has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Bison has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[8]

2020 census
The 2020 census says that there were 179 people, 85 households, and 53 families living in Bison. Of the households, 82.4% owned their home and 17.6% rented their home.
The median age was 51.5 years. Of the people, 93.3% were White, 1.1% were from some other race, and 5.6% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.1% of the people.[3][9]
