Arrondissement of Dole

The arrondissement of Dole is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Jura département in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Its capital, and subprefecture of the department, is the city of Dole.

History

When the arrondissements of Jura were created in 1800, Dole was one of them in the Jura department.[2]

Geography

The arrondissement of Dole is in the most northern of the arrondissements of the Jura department; it has an area of 1,171.2 km2 (452 sq mi).[3] It has a population of 83,701 inhabitants and a population density of 71.5 inhabitants/km².[4]

The arrondissement of Dole is bordered to the north by the Haute-Saône department, to the east by Doubs department, to the south by the arrondissement Lons-le-Saunier, to the southwest by the Saône-et-Loire department and to the west by the Côte-d'Or department.
