The officials elected — to both the executive and legislative branches — will serve out the remainder of the current presidential and legislative terms (2021–2025). A regular election for a full four-year term will happen in early 2025.[3]
Originally scheduled for 2025, the general elections were moved forward earlier after President Lasso used the muerte cruzada measure which dissolved the National Assembly to avoid impeachment.[4]
