12 Treasures of Spain

The 12 Treasures of Spain (Spanish: 12 Tesoros de España) was a project that selected the "Twelve Treasures of the Kingdom of Spain". The contest was done by two companies: Antena 3 and Cope. The final results were announced on 31 December 2007. Nine architectural monuments, two natural monuments and a monument pictorial were chosen.

Contest

In 2007 there was an international competition to choose the New Seven Wonders of the World. Four months later, Antena 3 and Onda Cero started a contest to choose the 12 Treasures of Spain. The people voted in the contest. People voted via internet and mobile phones. They received over 9,000 applications.[1] The candidates were drawn down to 20. They were going to choose 7 Treasures of Spain. Later that number was changed to 12.
